This Laguiole numbered ebony corkscrew is a limited edition, with a red inlay along the handle. Each one is made by Pierre, whom Laguiole en Aubrac calls its best artisan.
Ebony is near black, so the thin red line stands out like a signature. The carved top shows a delicate pattern along its length. On a wooden table with a good bottle, it looks quietly formal.
The handle is ebony wood with a matte finish and exceptional crafting along the top. The bee carries fine special crafting. A red lining runs along the handle and spine. It has a foil cutter, a corkscrew and a bottle opener, and folds to 4 3/4 inches (12 cm). It comes in a French oak gift box with a leather pouch and a certificate of authenticity. A lifetime warranty covers any manufacturing defects. It is made in the village of Espalion, in the historic Laguiole area of France.
It is the darkest and most dramatic of the numbered editions. You could give it to a serious collector, or keep it for the bottles you save.
