The Laguiole Cosmos Saturn purple knife has a purple elder burl handle and a ringed Saturn bee design. It comes from a limited edition series by Laguiole en Aubrac.
Purple and indigo swirl through the handle, with flashes of magenta near the bee. Pale knots of natural burl break up the colour. Held up to the light, the engraved spring stands out clearly.
Cosmos is a recent limited edition series of four knives. Each has a bee design for a key element of the universe: the Big Bang, Earth, Space and Saturn. The handle is tinted elder burl, a rare wood with natural patterns enhanced by deep colour. No two handles are identical. The blade is forged from Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel with a matte finish. It measures 4.75 inches (12 cm) from bolster to tip. The bee is detailed and forged, and the spring is decorated and engraved. It comes in an oak wood storage case with an authenticity certificate and a 22-page Laguiole artisanal charter guide.
