The Marulo pasta gift box holds eight 500 g packs of organic, bronze die-cut pasta made in Torre Annunziata, near Naples.
Bronze dies leave pasta with a rough, matte surface, and that texture is what makes sauce cling instead of sliding off. Marulo then dries it slowly, for up to 48 hours at 38°C.
Inside are four long shapes (tagliatelle, linguine, spaghetti oplontini and bucatini), two large ones (paccheri and rigatoni) and two short ones (caserecce and penne rigate). The only ingredients are certified organic Italian durum wheat semolina and water, so every shape is vegan.
Most shapes cook in about 10 minutes. Use 10 litres of well-salted boiling water per kilo of pasta, and taste often. Give it to anyone you know who cooks, with a bottle of good olive oil alongside.
